3 Things We Did In Mexico City

Happy Monday! Last week, I was in Mexico to celebrate Mexico Independence Day with my friends and we had a good time (see the full vlog series here). That trip was possible, thanks to Interjet Airlines, a Mexican low-cost airline that offers flight from Montreal (and other Canadian cities) to multiple cities in Mexico. During this short trip, my friend and I had the opportunity to discover Mexico City and I wanted to share with you 3 things we did there.

1 – We Ate GOOD!

In case you didn’t know, I am a big foodie and I enjoy trying food from different places. During our trip to Mexico, we didn’t try street food but we went to try different restaurants. Most of them were recommendations from Google ( which is one of the best ways to find a place to eat when traveling). My friends and I are not too picky and were open to try authentic food from Mexico. I tried the pozole which is a traditional soup made from hominy, with meat, and can be seasoned and garnished with shredded lettuce or cabbage, chile peppers, onion, garlic, radishes, avocado, salsa or limes.

Here is a list of the places that we tried during our trip.

Ojo De Agua – One of the best breakfast places I’ve tried in my life. The food was amazing and their smoothies too!

Frutos Prohibidos – A popular breakfast chain in Mexico that offers delicious breakfast.

Mercado Roma – It is a market with multiple restaurants. I highly suggest trying the ice cream churros sandwich from El Moro.

La Xempa – A very nice bar that offers high-end food and delicious cocktails.

2 – We Went OUT!

If there is one thing I’ve learned about the Mexican culture, is that they love to party. I used to be a big party guy but those days are gone. However, it is not everyday that you are in Mexico during their Independence Day so my friends and I decided to go out every night. There is truly one night club that stood out for me during this trip and it is Patrick Miller.

Patrick Miller is THE CLUB you need to visit when in Mexico. It is only open on Fridays and sometimes on Saturdays but because it was a special weekend, they were.   Usually, they have 70s, 80s and 90s music. The only thing I can say negative about that place is that they only sell beer and water… so do not expect to get drunk on Tequila! You should head over the vlog and see the dance battle I had there with my friend Rich! To have more information about this club, head over their facebook page here!

3 – We Celebrated Mexico Independence Day With The People

The goal of our weekend was to celebrate Mexican Independence Day in Mexico. This one was quite special because it is the first one they had with their new president and it was historical.

I suggest that you arrive early if you want to see the festivities. There are so much happening that day that you don’t want to miss out but also, if you arrive late, you will miss out on the best shows. In addition, you don’t want to miss the ”el Grito” speech which is the cry of independence that is characterized with ”VIVA MEXICO”.

This trip was unforgettable and I personally recommend Interjet for your next trip to Mexico. Not only it is a low-cost airline, but you also have open-bar, a lot of legroom and amazing customer service.

If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to me or leave a comment. Until then, VIVA MEXICO!
