4 Podcasts Made In Montreal (2020)

2 years ago, I’ve shared 4 podcasts that were made in Montreal, and unfortunately, all of them are not active anymore. However, today’s blog post is to update you with 4 active podcasts in Montreal that will keep you in the loop of what is going on in the city and they all have great hosts and guests that YOU NEED TO KNOW.

1- Woke Or Whateva

There are no better ways to describe this podcast other than ”Black women talking their shit” as mentioned on their Instagram bio. I’ve discovered them during quarantine in April where they would do weekly lives and discuss the realities of Black women, along with other issues affecting visible minorities. This bilingual podcast is hosted by Becky and Titi and they are unapologetic, charismatic, and real.

Previous Topics Covered: Colorism, Feminism, Anti Blackness, and their latest episode is the one I would suggest to listen since they are filling you in their last 4 months’ journey where they definitely had lots of media and social media attention.

2 – Dope on the Table

Dope on the podcast supplies your weekly fix of music, humor, and social commentary. Available on all major platforms, this 2020 Gala Dynastie nominated podcast is a space where the community can join and listen in on all the things « Culture ». The hosts Jayo, Alex & Sley give you a taste of their well-established chemistry and humoristic sarcasm which will either make you laugh, think, cringe or hit that rewind button to catch one of the past 66 episodes.

Previous episodes: Raptors Championship (You know I had to point this one out as a Raps fan!), Interviews, music news, sit-down with Imposs (Muzion)  and heart-to-heart with Never Was Average.

3 – Where We At

This french podcast is hosted by Annabel McLaughlin, sex therapist and psychotherapist, M.A., and my good friend Jessica Prudencio, blogger and content creator.  This podcast is committed to the development of open and safe space for cultural communities in Quebec. At the time, Jessica told me that her goal was to have a podcast that would represent us (BIPOC: Black, Indigenous, People of Color) more, a podcast that will have real conversations and they have succeeded in doing so.

Previous topic covered are dating experiences as racialized women, internalized racism and intersectionality, the importance of positive role models, fast fashion, and more.

4 – Behind The Girl Boss

My blog often discusses the reality of being an entrepreneur with tips and tricks on how to navigate this lifestyle. However, if I could have a podcast, it would be quite similar to Amanda Wan‘s podcast that discusses her journey as an entrepreneur and how to build a successful business with social media. Lately, she has been interviewing other girl bosses to discuss about their come up and picks into their brain.

Previous topics covered: How to Create Content on a Budget, Balancing School & Work, Youtube, and more.
