4 Ways To Travel For Cheap When Leaving from Montreal

Traveling is an experience that most of us can’t get enough. I love traveling so much that I tried to be a flight attendant 3 years ago and I didn’t get the job (yes, I guess I am not charismatic enough 😩). However, that didn’t stop me to go in the US (Orlando, Los Angeles, New York, Texas and more), Europe ( Germany in case you didn’t see the video of my year in recap) (that I decided to share above), traveling can get expensive and one of the main ways to reduce your cost is to cut on the travel expenses! Here are 4 ways to save on your travel expense (if you don’t feel like driving!).

1 – MEGABUS / GREYHOUND

Taking the bus for traveling is not glamorous but it is definitely one of the best ways to travel for cheap. I used Megabus and Greyhound to go to New York and to go to Toronto in the past. When you book early enough, you can get a roundtrip ticket to go to Toronto for 40$!  On the other hand, Greyhound prices are doesn’t change much but you can benefit from Student Discount.

2 – YUL DEALS

This is one of the best websites to use if you want to travel from Montreal! The way this website works is similar to others cheap flight website but it is curated for Montreal only. You simply have to go on it and it will tell you what are the cheap flights that are available to you right now. However, you often have to book in advance and act on it NOW. (sometimes they notice price errors too!)

3 – POMELO NEWSLETTERS

Why look online for deals when you can receive them directly in your mailbox? This is what Pomelo does and they are pretty good at it. Every day, it will send emails to you with flight “deals”.  However, often they aren’t just deals, they also happen to be airline mistakes! While this blog post is about cheap ways to travel for cheap, Pomelo often gives you flight deals that are available in the US. At this point, you can simply get yourself a bus ticket to go to the destination or a plane one. They do have deals that are great from Toronto Airport but I’ve never received any of them that were available from Montreal. If you are interested in getting more than 25% of the flights from the free membership, there is a premium membership option that costs $3 a month.

4- VIA RAIL

Taking ViaRail is one of the best ways to go if you plan to travel across the country. You will save much if you reserve your tickets as early as possible and if you are also flexible with your departure and arrival time. In addition, you have way more leg space on the train than in the bus. They also have a discount page that makes it easier for you to find the best deals from Montreal (and other Canadian cities)
