5 Restaurants To Try In Griffintown

As a Montreal based foodie, I am always on the lookout for places to eat in Montreal. Today, I want to talk about my favorite restaurants in Griffintown. Griffintown is located in the south of Downtown Montreal and it is known for the countless amount of condos and warehouse. However, Griffintown has many restaurants (most of them on Notre Dame Street) that one must try if you live in Montreal. In this blog post, I am talking about Le Bird Bar, Le Richmond, Le Boucan,Perles et Paddock and Foxy.

Bird Bar, 1800 Notre-Dame St W, Montreal, QC H3J 1M5

Previously mentioned in my blog, le Bird Bar is one of my favorite restaurant in the city. This premiere fried chicken and champagne restaurant is popular for their Brunch Royale on the weekend and their Chicken and Waffle. I have been going to this restaurant since their opening 3 years ago and I am always satisfied when I go. The chef Kim Lallouz has made a menu that is specific for every season which offers new surprises every time I go. In addition, Le Bird Bar also has a speakeasy bar in the basement called Henden. In my opinion, le Bird Bar is a key restaurant in Griffintown.

Must-try on the menu: Vegan popcorn chicken, truffled mac and cheese and their chicken and waffles.

Le Richmond, 377 Ave Richmond, Montreal, QC H3J 1T9

Griffintown is blessed to have two restaurants that go in tie together and it is Le Richmond restaurant and Le Marché Italien Le Richmond. Located right next to each other, they offer a totally unique experience one from the other. The market offers great pizza and they offer brunch 7 days a week! Le Marché is the perfect place to bring a date or catch up with a friend since it is cozy and welcoming.

On the other side, the restaurant Le Richmond offers an exclusive dining experience combining gastronomy and interior design. This restaurant in Griffintown offers amazing Italian cuisine inspired by Piedmont, Venetia and Emilia Romagna. I’ve been many times to this restaurant with friends for a special event (it can welcome up to 140 guests) and for a great 5 @ 7 with the boys.

Must-try on the menu: Gnocchi di bufala, risotto agli asparagi and their salmon gravlax benedicts all available in the restaurants.

Le Boucan, 1886 Notre-Dame St W, Montreal, QC H3J 1M6

Did it ever happen to you that one day, you just wanted to eat chicken wings? Le Boucan is the place you should go when you have that craving. It is not a coincidence why this restaurant has over 600 reviews on Google rating it 4.4 stars. This smokehouse offers the best wings in the city and offers delicious sandwiches.

Must-try on the menu: Brisket Sandwich ( with their coleslaw and fries) and their chicken wings.

Perles et Paddock, 403 Rue des Seigneurs, Montréal, QC H3J 1X7

Elegant, fancy-ish and unique, P&P looks like a Los Angeles restaurant that decided to establish itself in the middle of Griffintown. I could talk about the decor and atmosphere of this restaurant all day because it is just different, it is trendy and they also have a tree in the middle! Opened 2 years ago, Perles et Paddock is a french cuisine restaurant from the chef Paddy Cheang (Au Pied du Cochon, Toqué!, Park). They offer local food and their menu change with the seasons making it sure that everything is always fresh and delightful. In my list of restaurants to try in Griffintown, I feel this is the one that offers the best vegetarian and vegan options.

While doing research online, I noticed that they stopped offering brunch unfortunately, I hope they bring it back because it was definitely a brunch destination.

Must-try on the menu: Polenta, Northern shrimps and their Japanese cheesecake.

Foxy, 1638 Notre-Dame St W, Montreal, QC H3J 1M1

A hole in the wall must I say, I’ve been familiar with Notre-Dame street in Griffintown for over 2 years now and I’ve never noticed this restaurant until I was invited to go by the Cadillac Team (minor flex). Open every day from 5:30 to 11 PM, Foxy offers amazing customer service and their food is tasty. This rustic, fire-focused restaurant is the second establishment from Dyan Solomon and Éric Girard, the owners of café and bakery Olive et Gourmando. The menu offers a great selection of meals made on the charcoal such as their grilled hanger steak, wood oven-roasted coquelet, Cuban burger and more.

Must-try on the menu: Wood oven-roasted lobster, cuban burger and their buttermilk panna cotta.
