16 Dec Where To Stay In Mexico City? Part 1: Coyoàcan
Mexico City has been my second home for the past couple of months. I went for the Independence Day, the Day of the Dead as well as this month to celebrate one of my good friends’ birthday. All this was possible because I am working closely with Interjet Airlines a lowcost airline company that offers flight from Canada (Montreal, Toronto & Vancouver) to Mexico. They are all over Latin America and they have a lot of room space in their plane and offer free alcohol! In addition, they also just celebrated their 14th year, so, Happy Birthday Interjet Airlines! To book a flight with them, head over here: https://www.interjet.com/
This blog post is the first of a serie of 3 where I want to share with you 3 areas that I would suggest staying once in Mexico: Coyoàcan, Condesa/Roma and Polanco.

Coyoàcan
During my last stay in Mexico City, I stayed in the beautiful city of Coyoàcan. It is one of the oldest neighborhoods in Mexico City, located 10 km south of the Zocalo, the most touristic area of Mexico City. The name stands for ”place of the coyotes” and you can see a beautiful statue of coyotes at Jardin Centenario. I particularly enjoy this area for a stay in Mexico because it is a friendly neighborhood and it is close to everything.
Staying in Coyoàcan ensures that you are close to a lot of main attractions such as the Frida Khalo Museum and the Cineteca National de Mexico. (Read more about my top 5 museums to visit in Mexico) In addition, Coyoàcan has one of the most historic churches in Mexico, the Parish of San Juan Bautista. When I stayed in that area, I was surprised to see how touristic this area is but also peaceful. When I travel, I enjoy walking around and discover local stores. During my stay, I met the owner of a great restaurant and she welcomed me as if I was part of her family.
Another factor that explains why this area is one of the main places I would suggest you to stay in Mexico is because it is self-sufficient in. There are plenty of malls, restaurants, and places to visit in this area, let me share some places I liked below.
Some places I liked
- Restaurante La Terminal de Coyoacán – Centenario 27, Del Carmen, Coyoacán, 04100 Ciudad de México, CDMX, Mexico. This place is my FAVORITE breakfast place in Mexico City. I was staying 2 doors down from this place during my last trip and fell in love with the cuisine of this restaurant. It feels like home-cooked food and the staff was friendly. I was so pleased with this restaurant that I’ve offered a free photoshoot to the owner, you can see more pictures below!
- Pizza del Perro Negro – Calle Xicoténcatl 319, Del Carmen, Coyoacán, 04100 Ciudad de México, CDMX, Mexico. If you like pizza as much as I do, would you believe me if I say that you never tried pizza that are like the one they sell there? Pizza del Perro is known for their originality in their pizza. You can see some of their pizza on their Instagram.
- Arkeid – Av. México Coyoacán 106, Sta Cruz Atoyac, 03310 Ciudad de México, CDMX, Mexico. I stumbled upon this bar when I was walking in Coyoàcan. This bar is an arcade bar with great vibes. From SNES, N64, to arcade games, this place is a great destination to go with friends to have a good time.
- Los Danzantes – Parque Centenario 12, Coyoacán TNT, Coyoacán, 04000 Ciudad de México, CDMX, Mexico. This restaurant is a tad fancy but would suggest you try it because of the food and the chapulines! Located in the Parque Centenario, enjoying a nice meal on the terrasse and listening to live singers will make your day special.
