Last week, I was invited be part of a Youtube panel at Now Creates<\/a> alongside inspiring creators. The subject was getting started and creator money myths. It was an honor for me to discuss these topics next to Steven Van<\/a>, Jesse Driftwood<\/a>, Rachel Minicucci<\/a>, Vanessa Giorgio<\/a>, Naomi Leanage<\/a> and Chris Lawrence<\/a>!<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve decided to share 3 tips to help you get started with your Youtube Channel.<\/p>\n

Start Now<\/h2>\n

One of the main questions that were\u00a0asked throughout the night was to \u201cwhen is a good time to start?\u201d. Many people are waiting to get the perfect camera, the right program, the perfect idea before getting started on Youtube. Unfortunately, this slows them down in the creative process and they don’t create. You should start NOW! NOW IS THE TIME! Ready or not, it is important to start now because it is one of the best ways to learn! You get to learn more about what your audience wants, how long they watch your video and more. In addition, starting now will also help you in determining what you need to push your content to the next level!<\/p>\n

Focus On Your Content<\/h2>\n

If there\u2019s one thing that we all agreed on, it is that you should focus on your content over trying to get new subscribers. YouTube\u2019s new monetization rules affect smaller creators the most (me being one of them). The updated rules state that in order for creators to be eligible for the Partner Program, a collective whose channels can be monetized through Google AdSense, they must have a total watch time of 4,000 hours in the past 12 months and a minimum of 1,000 subscribers! When that is taken into consideration, it is obvious that your content has to be KING.<\/p>\n

Collaborations<\/h2>\n

\u201cCollaboration is an awesome way to expose yourself to a new audience and to spread your message and brand\u201d. In fact, when starting on Youtube, many of you will notice that it is hard to build an audience from the get-go. People usually start on youtube with their friends and family as the first subscribers and then, you might get some real early adopters.<\/p>\n

Bonus One!<\/h2>\n

I\u2019ve decided to share a bonus trick because it is something that speaks to me. This weekend, I submitted a vlog to the \u201cAu Grand Screen\u201d contest which is a contest that picks the best Youtube videos to put them on the big screen. I did my video the day of with Evelyne from Culture Eats. I thought that my video was good even if I forgot my microphone to record a better audio quality. However, the judges didn\u2019t think the same and for that reason, I didn\u2019t get selected. The judges were really nice to share with me some pointers that will help me create better content. My main issue is the STORYLINE.<\/p>\n

When doing Youtube videos, it is important to keep in mind your storyline and make sure that the viewer navigates from one point to another! I personally have done many collaborations on my Youtube Channel and it is always nice to see that my subscribers are receptive and that they support the other creators I am working with. Same goes the other ways, I am happy to see that the subscribers of the people I collab with come show some love on my page as well! That being said, getting started on Youtube is all about NOW!<\/p>\n
